About Lee Wright

  • Biography
I am a printmaker based in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. With my lino prints I aim to capture the beauty and tranquility of the landscape around me.

After a long career in IT in London took a change of path and studied printmaking at Putney School of Art. Moving to South Wales in 2009 inspired me to become a landscape artist. Every moment of every day the light and the effect it has on the scenery changes. I try to capture some of these moments in my lino prints.

The process I use, reduction linoprinting, is one in which the complete image is printed from one piece of lino. Layers of colour and tone are built up on the prints through successive drawing, cutting, inking and printing from the piece of lino. The reduction lino printing technique requires a lot of planning. One bad mistake in cutting or inking and all can be lost!

What keeps me producing my work is the knowledge that it helps brighten up other people's days.

I work out of my studio in Cwmdu in a converted Victorian school alongside other gifted artists.
