Kathryn studied Contemporary Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, later starting a handbag and accessories label after studying at Cordwainer’s at London College of Fashion, which she ran for a frenetic13 years.  Missing her first love of painting after the relentless obsolescence of the fashion industry, she set up her studio and started painting abstracts to redevelop her personal style anew.

Inspired by a need for getting away after the lockdown, a new allotment and perennial love for exotic plants, a figurative addition to her abstract work started in early 2023 with utopian escapist scenes and botanical forms.

This recent botanical work explores the uplifting power of osmosis when we are immersed in nature.

Mirage-like vistas lie before you trapped in time, exploring how we hold favourite moments, each could be a snapshot of a rose-tinted memory.  Through rich, saturated hues, and a variation of impasto techniques, the landscapes burst with freedom, merging nostalgia with fantasy.  An unabashed celebration of life and nature in all its glory.  Lazy, languid afternoons and crickets at dusk.

Tropical pavilions are a constant source of inspiration, as are rich memories of her childhood in Szarvas, Hungary and recent trips to Sicily, Malta, Provence and Barcelona. Vintage risoprints, ethnic interiors, soft furnishings and flea market trawls all over the world feed into her deeply personal aesthetic.  Disco and synth music in the studio helps her work ignite a joyous feedback loop.

The immersive compositions invite you to heal in the wonders of looking up, and become uplifted and lost for a while amongst the flora. 

Kathryns work is held by private collectors around the world, recent commissions include a new Harley Street clinic and NHS hospital in London.  One of her abstracts was longlisted for the Jacksons Art Prize 2021.
