About Kamil Woj

Biography

I am an award-winning artist working primarily in oils. My approach is all about the "alla prima" technique ,capturing the raw energy and immediate light of a subject in one go. Much of my work is done en plein air (painting outdoors on location), focusing on the British landscape and the dynamic character of wildlife. My ability to translate the authentic atmosphere of a place onto canvas has been recognized with multiple accolades, including winning first prize at the Wokingham Plein Air and the prestigious "Rocco's Sense of Location" award.

My style is heavily influenced by my past as a professional guitarist, which included performing with rock legend Pete Way (UFO). That background taught me to work without hesitation. I treat a blank canvas exactly like a live gig: I approach it with the same flair, rhythmic vitality, and "no second takes" intensity I once brought to the stage. Whether I’m painting a portrait or a sunlit landscape, I attack the surface with a direct, wet-on-wet energy to preserve the honesty of the moment.

My creative process was featured on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year as a Wildcard artist. My work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including 54 The Gallery in London (Mayfair) and a solo show at the New Forest Heritage Centre, among others. Backed by a Master’s degree from a Technical University and a formal background in music, my practice balances structural discipline with raw, rhythmic expression. For me, painting is about providing an honest, unfiltered connection to the subject through bold, physical mark-making.
