About Jennie Ing

  • Biography
Inspiration for Jennie's work comes from an interest in architecture and a fascination with the way spaces is taken up in our cities as well as what gives a place its identity.  She is drawn to the icons, the familiar and less familiar and focuses on what it is that makes these places instantly recognisable using a simplified sign language and bold colours.
She works in relief print, using the reduction method, a process involving printing each colour separately.  With the successive cutting away of areas from the surface of a flat block of lino, inking the remaining area and printing from this onto paper, she continues until the finished print is achieved.  All of this is done by hand, printing on her beloved Victorian Albion press.
