  • Biography
    I have been specializing mainly in painting and drawing. My main technique is oil on canvas but sometimes I include textile and other materials in my works. I wouldn't say that I restrict myself to a certain thematic range. Very typical for me is to combine elements from my direct contact with nature and a personally meaningful interpretation of abstract imagery. In solving this creative task I attempt to achieve balance between the spontaneous/emotional and the rational beginning.

    I regularly participate in regional and national general art exhibitions. Some of my paintings have been in display in a number of private and public collections in Bulgaria and abroad. In addition, I have attended some international fine art plenary sessions and symposia.

    As if with a single touch of his artistic brush, Ivan Gotsev turns his favourite world of images and memories into a strange theatrical mise-en-scene. He has it all - the fine spirit, the hand of an artist, the magician's eye. His paintings are not to be looked at from a short distance. You have to step back and half-close your eyes. And if you look carefully somewhere behind the tree and in front of the house from the childhood, you will discover a beautiful feminine body, glowing with its own light. Discrete and tempting at the same time! But most of all - stylish! A cordial stranger - Ivan Gotsev!
