Irina Sherbiak is a New York–based artist whose work explores how color, atmosphere, and perception shape the experience of familiar subjects. Through painting, she creates environments where representation gradually gives way to abstraction, inviting viewers to slow down and discover subtle shifts in color, brushwork, and form. For her, the subject is not the destination but the beginning of a visual experience that explores the relationship between observation, memory, and perception. Her paintings investigate how familiar objects can shift between certainty and ambiguity, encouraging viewers to reconsider the nature of the reality they perceive.
Sherbiak studied at the Art Students League of New York under acclaimed painters Ricky Mujica and Leonid Gervitz, where she developed a strong foundation in observational painting while cultivating a contemporary visual language rooted in color, atmosphere, and perception. Her work has been exhibited at the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery in New York, is held in private collections throughout the United States and internationally, and has received recognition from Oil Painters of America through selections for the OPA Online Showcase and the 2026 National Salon. Each of her artworks is a unique piece.
