About Ilaria Dessí

Biography

My name is Ilaria Dessì, and I was born in 1979. Since I was a child, I perceived the world not just through my eyes, but as a vibrant flow of energies and colors—an intuition that found its truest and most powerful form in abstract art. I am a self-taught artist, and the brush has become the most effective tool for translating my inner landscape.

Painting has never been a simple aesthetic choice or a profession; it is a visceral necessity. It is my language, my release, my catharsis. I don't just pour pigments onto my canvases; I channel my very essence: love and rage, the brightest joy and the bitterness that sometimes weighs down the soul. Every piece is a page from my emotional diary, a concentration of energy and heart.

A great part of my inspiration comes from my travels around the world and my birthplace where I live now. Here, fortunately, wild nature still reigns supreme, with its stark contrasts and its relentless beauty. The wind, the sculpted rocks, the power of the sea crashing on the shore: all of this is translated into textured brushstrokes, bold layering, and an intense chromatic palette. It is the forms and sensations of primordial nature that guide my hand, suggesting the movements and the textures that give life to every composition.

Seeing my art exhibited and knowing that my paintings are able to communicate a fragment of this intense emotionality is the greatest reward. I do not seek representation, but resonance: I hope that those who look at my works can feel the echo of the same vital force that generated them.
