Biography
Born in August 1982 in Chuhuiv, Ukraine—the historic homeland of the legendary realist Ilya Repin—Darya Klunnikova carries forward a legacy of classical mastery as a conduit for constructive creativity. Her artistic path, rooted in the heritage of the Repin Art School and the Kharkiv State Art College, has evolved into a profound mission: to channel the vibrant energy of nature into a timeless aesthetic harmony.
Darya’s creative essence is defined solely by oil on canvas. Through the meticulous, layered glazing techniques of the Old Dutch Masters, she achieves a luminous dialogue between classical depth and modern photorealism. Focusing primarily on the ephemeral beauty of floral subjects, her work transforms delicate natural forms into enduring symbols of light and clarity. This dedication to excellence has led to over 70 oil paintings being acquired by private collectors in New York, London, Milan, Madrid, Chicago, and many other beautiful cities of our planet.
Following the onset of war in her homeland, Darya—a mother of three—was forced to leave Ukraine and now continues her creative journey in Tallinn, Estonia. Her art remains inextricably linked to her spiritual foundation; she believes that just as a canvas cannot be truly brought to life without faith, there can be no peace on earth without a foundation of belief. Through her oil paintings, she offers a gentle but firm reminder that creativity is an act of faith, and beauty is a constructive force essential for our world!
