Biography
Brooke views life as a collection of fleeting moments to be cherished. Photographing since the mid-1980s, her work captures these moments throughout the seasons: Leaves budding, unfurling, changing color, and then falling, birds building nests, raising young, and migrating, the brief appearance of shadows on sunny days, and the stark beauty of bare trees reflecting on water after the ice melts. She covets the ephemeral, amorphous forms of clouds and the ebb and flow of water.
All of this can be seen and captured with cameras, but humans are only capable of seeing some of the light emitted by the sun, specifically visible light. All cameras contain a filter that blocks other light - ultraviolet and infrared - enabling photographs to reflect how humans see the world. Brooke had that filter removed, her full-spectrum and infrared photographs now revealing a realm that extends beyond our vision, recognizable yet with an ethereal glow and an altered color palette, prompting us to pause and notice aspects of the world around us that we all too often overlook, inviting us to slow down and consider what is beyond what we see and perceive.
Brooke has been selling her photographic art online since 2011. Her work has been exhibited across the USA, is on book covers, is sold by major retailers, and is in homes worldwide.
