About Ana Hefco

Biography

--------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t have a team behind me.
I paint, I wire, I brand, I pack. I take photos of the paintings, I post on social media, and I search for the best-quality painting, packing, and shipping supplies. I created my website, and I maintain it. I do the marketing. I do the art shows where I set up, pack, prep, load, and unload everything myself.

I am self-taught in every single step of this. I’m not complaining, just stating the facts. I never overcharge because I prioritize people having access to my art, which means my profit margins are usually very small.

I don’t make art to decorate the walls of my own home. I make it to express and capture feelings and beautiful places, and I want people to be able to experience in their own space what my art communicates. I’m not pretentious, just detail-oriented.

So please know: behind every painting is just me. A simple woman with feelings who, no matter how simple or minimalist a painting may look, has poured her whole heart and everything else into it. Behind that serene ocean painting you are looking at is a bit of a hot mess who does everything with intention, love, and - yes - an extremely OCD brain (but that’s another story entirely).

I am a self-taught dreamer and artist. To dream is my path, and to paint is my dream. Painting fulfills me. The ritual of preparing my materials, the working table, the music, everything about it makes me happy. Opening the pigment jars, feeling the specific scent of the resin (the medium I paint with), observing the mediums interacting and changing under fire, the peaceful restlessness I feel during the process, the perpetual element of surprise, everything is pure joy for me. Lack of control is not my strong suit, but in the painting process, things are different. The resin (also known as liquid glass) has a mind of its own, and I learn to mindfully let go every time I paint. I allow those liquid color-induced emotions I feel to drive me and take the lead of my hands, and at the end of the process, it's just music and bliss. Resin flowing on the painting surface is like a butterfly unfolding its wings for the very first time, overwhelming beauty and color reveal uniquely surprising patterns ready to fill the yearning eyes and souls. I get to create my own “pupas” and watch them emerge into beautiful “butterflies” on the painting surface. I love this painting style because it cannot be reproduced, repeated, or recreated; every painting obtained through this technique happens only once in an infinity of attempts. In a way, these paintings are like us humans: one of a kind, for eternity. Isn’t that amazing? I am a full-time internationally selling artist with work in private collections in the USA, South America, Asia, Australia, and all over Europe (Italy, Spain, UK, France, Portugal, Romania, and Germany). Most recently sold paintings went to South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, the United States, Mexico, and Singapore

Social Media? I am most active on Instagram, where collectors, admirers, and friends can follow my work and ongoing projects.
Inspiration? My inspiration is always nature's force, balance, perfection in purpose and beauty, it can be a place I traveled or sailed to, or just the breeze or a feeling while floating on our boat docked in a Turkish marina, or just on anchor nearby a Greek taverna on a remote, tiny island in the Mediterranean or Aegean Sea. It can be this artist as a little girl reading "The Count of Monte Christo" trying to escape her cold, tiny, grey communist bedroom by daydreaming and traveling to exotic, warm places with gold sand beaches and teal, clear water oceans and seas. Regardless of the place or sensation that triggers me to paint, I always seek and aim for the same thing: I want the viewer to feel warmth, solace, calm, and inner peace. I want them to feel the warm waters touching their feet, and that turquoise-teal-gold perfect color ratio fill their hungry for beauty eyes and soul. So if you love the ocean, walk on a breezy beach, or describe yourself as an ocean lover, my art can and will bring you joy and closer to that salty, sunny beach of your dreams.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ART COLLECTORS:

🎨 If you love a painting but the price isn’t within your budget, PLEASE don’t hesitate to make me an offer or send a direct message.
I’m happy to make adjustments where possible so that the piece you love can find its place in your home.
