As a Printmaker I work in the Painterly Mono Print technique whereby my 'painting' is made on an acetate sheet. I apply and work into oily inks on the slippery acetate and take a print from it's surface onto etching paper on my etching Press. I build up my image by reworking more ink onto the acetate and reprinting onto the paper until I feel it is complete. I love Mono Printing because I am always surprised by the effects I can achieve, it can be free and spontaneous or careful and controlled.
Inspiration comes from the wonderful light and atmosphere around our coastline with it's big dramatic skies and wonderful meandering water pools as the tide retreats, and I find that Mono printing lends itself beautifully to capturing this.
I am also fascinated by watching people and animals at play on the coastline and I use my camera to capture images of them set against the light, almost in silhouette.
