- Alice Gavin Atashkar
Born in the UK, Gavin Atashkar was raised in Manchester surrounded by textiles. She travelled extensively for 7 years, living in both South of France and Spain, which influenced her colour palette. Later she moved to London, where she developed her practice under the mentorship of Paul Regan, now the Vice President of the Royal Water Colour Society.
From her early years, three areas fascinated her which have captivated her since: colour, texture and the natural world. Her practice is expressive, intuitive and invites the viewer to a contemplative and immersive experience. She often refers to her practice like a form of prayer and gratitude. Her faith guides and informs her concepts and themes. Her semi-abstract, expressive style involves drips and scrapes, layers and layers, and is guided as much by the process as the end result.
Gavin Atashkar’s works can be found in private collections all around the world from Isreal to Iran, USA to Australia, Spain and Germany.
