Original artwork description
My family visited Zion National Park in Arizona, and we were stunned by the breath-taking views all around us. It was so gorgeous that it hardly seemed real. I knew I was going to have to paint my impressions, which began as a collage of watercolor papers, some of which were painted in fluorescent oranges and pinks, to reflect the visual impact of the high-chroma, gem-like colors of the land and turquoise sky. Scripture verses from Luke 9: 12 and Isaiah 52: 7 were printed on two collage pieces. This collage was then mounted on a 16" x 20" canvas and over-painted in oils, retaining the freshness and energy of the underlying collage. This painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
