Turning To Gold (2022) Original Mixed-media Painting by Phyllis Mahon

An earthy yet spiritual painting of a woman being kissed by an angel. Her body turns to gold in his feathery embrace, despite the setting of the cool night air and the pale light of the moon.
Her raised arms channel her desire to become the wings of an ascending bird.
Feathers from the angel's wings curl around her legs and he cradles her falling hair, guiding it into the crescent moon - from earth to heaven.

I've used Derwent Inktense watercolour, gold gouache and Caran d'Ache watercolour pencil, on grey/blue Indian handmade medium-weight cotton paper.

Paper size is 12 x 16" / 30 x 40cm.
I love this paper's texture, colour and uneven deckle edge. To look at it makes me want to paint!

Available unframed.
At the time of framing it may be an idea to "float" the paper so that the edges show ... rather than traditionally covering the edges with a mat / mount board ... just an idea.
