A COLOURFUL JOURNEY

A fantastic large statement piece, measuring 152 x 122 cm, oil painting on canvas.

I'm fascinated by colour, the juxtapositioning of selected hues which allows the eye to create its own illusion. A technique employed by many of the pointelist and impressionist painters of the past. This keeps the image lively and absorbing.

The canvas was continually rotated in creation, this artwork may be displayed any way up, to suit your own interpretation!

Before painting I stretched the canvas over wooden stretcher bars. The surface was then prepared with two coats of size, three coats of white oil gesso . This is a rough surface, thick quality cotton canvas, so lots of great texture on the surface, not a flat painting. No raw canvas, so no yellowing will occur. I finish the work with two coats of professional varnish.

GLOBAL.... The painting will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube for safe arrival and will require re stretching before hanging. This is a simple and relatively inexpensive process at your local framers.
