For this contemporary iris painting, I blended drawing and painting to create a sense that the irises are emerging forth from the transparent, abstract background. Gestural line work drawing and areas of transparent, metallic gold ink create a juxtaposition against the abstracted shapes in the background. The subtle hints of gold serve to draw the viewer in and create interest and dimension when viewed at different angles and in different lighting.
The main colors are pale lavender, deep purple, magenta, green, Sienna, pale olive green, gold.
