Original artwork description
Winter Sunrise
Walking the countryside,
Taking in the colours,
Wincombe woods beyond,
Muted green pasture,
Peaceful ambiance.
Words and feelings of where I live on the outskirts of Shaftesbury, North Dorset to Wiltshire border.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed Saunders Waterford St Cuthberts mill 300gsm 140lb.
Sighed on the front and back of painting.
Certificate of authenticity.
Capturing the enchanted area of Wincombe park and ethereal woodland backdrop. I used a three colour technique in Chinese watercolours. Wetting the paper all over I apply wet on wet graduated washes of warm glowy colours for the sunrise sky. It was a magical moment in time and the Sunrises of February can be amazing, if you are lucky to see.
The woodland treeline was created using a baseline technique below the sky and releasing the paint for the line I then tip upwards to create the winter trees. This takes time, control and feeling. I love it when I am truly satisfied with the effect. I will keep experimenting and exploring this process.
Materials used:
Cold pressed Saunders Waterford 300gsm 140lb watercolour paper, Chinese watercolours, sable hair brush, Chinese brushes, filbert brush,

- Size: 35.5 x 28.5 x 1cm (unframed)
