I've been lucky enough to spend much of this summer in France, at a charming farmhouse full of inspiring things. The equivalent of a sweetie shop to a still-life artist! On a drive into the beautiful Charente countryside, we came across a verge full of wild sweet peas, so picked just enough to fill a vase. I selected some treasured vintage books to complete this composition. Set against old painted cupboards and floorboards, the piece has an evocative, yet fresh appeal. The use of a palette knife to introduce a small degree of texture adds both depth and interest.

This painting is sold unframed but is suitable to do so should you wish. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.

The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.
