White Cloud (2023) Original Mixed-media Painting by Galina Zimmatore

I have been fascinated with both clouds, the sky and the colors of the rainbow for some time.
Clouds are white because light from the Sun is white. As light passes through a cloud, it interacts with large water droplets in the cloud.
These droplets scatter all colours in the suns spectrum and the sunlight continues to remain white and so making the clouds appear white against the background of the blue sky.
Sunlight or 'visible light' can be thought of as a wave and a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. We can see the full spectrum when it is split up and spread out as a rainbow.
This abstract painting depicts a white cloud, the colours of the rainbow and some geometric patterns for embellishment.
Created with acrylic paint, spray paint and paint relief. Finished with Acrylic Polymer Gloss varnish for durability and protection against UV light.
Painted on unstretched cotton canvas and supplied rolled in a tube.
