This print captures the view from the top of Whitby’s iconic Abbey Steps, looking down over the cobbled streets and bustling shops below, with the sweeping curve of the bay and Georgian townhouses of the newer town beyond.
Whitby is a coastal town full of character—famous for its dramatic Abbey ruins, its ties to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and as the place where Captain Cook learned his seamanship. On a sunny day, its narrow lanes fill with visitors exploring independent shops, enjoying boat trips, fish and chips, tea rooms, and that essential seaside ice cream.
For this piece, I had fun working with colour—drawing on those soft seaside pastels that immediately evoke the British coast. This version features more muted tones, perfect for those who prefer a gentler palette over bold brights.
An 11-colour, hand-pulled silk screen print in A1 size. Limited edition of 22.
Italian Canaletto Bianco 300gms paper in Acrylic paints.
