This photograph shows a hall at Sinheungsa Temple in Seorak-san National Park, its red timber gable rising above a stone wall thick with climbing ivy, dwarfed by the jagged granite peaks of Seoraksan behind it. Tall pines frame the scene on either side, their trunks catching the last warm light of what looks like early evening, while the mountain's bare rock face glows pale against the surrounding green. The pinkish stone path curves gently through the foreground, empty and unhurried, leading the eye naturally toward the temple wall in the middle distance. What strikes me here is the scale — the temple, usually the subject in these photographs, becomes almost secondary against Seoraksan's raw granite spires, a reminder that even centuries-old architecture defers to the mountains that surround it.
