I painted this piece in acrylic on 300gsm paper, building up layers of warm, earthy tones to create a sense of heaviness and quiet introspection. The face emerges with closed eyes, as if lost in thought or retreating inward, while the hands cradle it gently—suggesting both comfort and pressure at the same time.

I exaggerated the facial features, especially the elongated nose and simplified shapes, to give the figure a slightly distorted, almost dreamlike quality. The thick, dark lines around the head feel like a barrier or enclosure, contrasting with the softer blending of the skin tones. I worked into the surface with visible brushstrokes and scratches, allowing texture to become part of the emotion.

The background shifts between warm oranges and deep browns, creating tension between light and shadow. I wanted the figure to feel grounded yet confined, calm yet unsettled—like a moment of silence that holds something heavier underneath.
