Where Are You From? (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Dean Anthony Brink
27 x 41 x 2cm / 27 x 41cm (actual image size)
£602.82
Original artwork description
Always asked "Where are you from?" as a visible minority in Taiwan, this painting deconstructs how easily one can fall into the trap of relying on categories to situate ourselves and others. I enjoy answering that I am from Taiwan, echoing the spirit of a great-grandma, who said, "I am American," never revealing her European origins to us. When someone in Taiwan then asks me, "Really, where are you from?" I may go through a litany of places I've lived or mention where my parents are from, but, if they are sincere and tell me about themselves too, there is more there.
Materials used:
acrylics, ink, glazing
Details:
- Acrylic painting on Canvas
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 27 x 41 x 2cm / 27 x 41cm (actual image size)
- Ready to hang
- Signed on the back
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Transportation and maps
