Original artwork description
‘Wash Away’ is a unique monotype made at my studio in Cadiz, southern Spain. I make many works using the local coastal environment as a starting point to create an emotional response to the land and sea. This coast line is called the Costa de la Luz - the Coast of Light and has always attracted artists because of its dazzling colours and light.
My monotypes are completely unique pieces of work made from applying ink to several copper etching plates and taking them through an etching press, gradually building up an image, layer after layer.
Materials used:
oil based etching inks on heavy-weight handmade paper
