I look at you through a device that promises closeness and replaces it. We almost touch, but between us there is not air, there is technology. Hands reach out by habit, as if the gesture still means something.

Around us are identical hearts, like approval icons meant to confirm a feeling. I see you, but I’m not sure it’s really you, and not a convenient version made of images and expectations.

We stay close because it’s easier this way. Here there is no need to take risks, no need to be fully real. I don’t know whether there is love between us, or only its simulation. But I keep looking, because taking off this mask means being alone with reality again.
