This painting began with a strong contrast—a dense, dark form meeting a soft and open field of light.

I worked intuitively, layering acrylic with both brush and palette knife to build texture and depth. Deep blue and muted grey tones form the foundation, while blush pink and violet hues emerge through the surface, blending into warm beige and earthy ochre tones below. These colors shift across the canvas, creating a sense of movement and unfolding space.

As I developed the composition, I was drawn to the idea of transition—how color can dissolve boundaries and create a feeling rather than define a place. The darker vertical presence adds weight and intensity, while the lighter areas open outward, allowing the eye to travel across the painting.

The surface holds visible traces of the process—paint applied, scraped, and revealed again—creating a rich tactile texture that changes with the light and viewing angle. This gives the artwork a dynamic quality that continues to evolve over time.
