Vinney Ridge Pigs (2023)Oil painting by Peter Frost
57 x 47 x 3cm (framed) / 45 x 35cm (actual image size)
£950
Original artwork description
This was painted a few years ago in a woodland in the New Forest called Vinney Ridge. In that wood is a remarkable oak that has fallen over forming an arch and has then regrown from the trunk where it touched the ground. The New Forest has many remarkable trees, but I know of no other oak quite like this one. Autumn is the Pannage season in the New Forest when pigs are turned out by the commoners to eat the acorns and beech mast. I have completed the scene by added a sow and piglets. The frame is gold with a canvas slip.
