Original artwork description
Commissioned for a birthday present. The brief being the beauty of Ilkley and The Chevin in Yorkshire. Colours wanted were muted, natural colours complimenting the flora of the area and a country kitchen or Yorkshire stone.
After researching the area and images of the ancient stones I knew I had to incorporate the 'Calf & Cow' and 'The Chevin' rock formations into the painting. I also came across Verbeia who was The Goddess of Wharfdale. After researching Verbeia and her how she was worshipped the painting took on a life of its own.
