“Veil of Truth” is a piece that grew out of my reflections on honesty and not just with others, but with ourselves. I’ve always been fascinated by how much of our true self we choose to reveal, and how much we keep behind a kind of emotional veil.
In this painting, the split face represents that tension. One side is bare, direct, maybe even vulnerable. The other is covered in a decorative mask, not necessarily to deceive, but to protect. Both sides are part of the same person, both equally real.
The eyes were especially important to me in this work. They’re the one element that connects both halves, hinting that the truth is never just what we see on the surface and it often lives in the space between what’s shown and what’s hidden.
This painting isn't about choosing one side over the other. It’s about acknowledging that both can coexist — and that sometimes, the veil itself holds a kind of truth too.
