Original artwork description:

‘Unknown Entity 4’ is a large-scale abstract painting (200 × 180 cm) created with acrylic and mixed media on raw jute. Dominated by energetic strokes of muted red and pink, black, and white against a beige ground, the composition evokes raw movement and layered intensity. The coarse jute surface adds a tactile depth, enhancing the work’s physical presence.

This piece belongs to the ‘Unknown Entity’ series of abstract paintings which explores the tension between attraction and ambiguity and was developed through an intuitive, physical process. The interplay of sweeping gestures, scribbled lines, and splattered textures creates a dynamic tension - neither chaotic nor controlled, but compellingly unresolved. The translucent quality of the jute when freestanding adds a subtle material contrast, though it remains opaque when wall-mounted.

‘Unknown Entity 4’ is ideal as a bold statement piece in spacious interiors - whether private collections, contemporary homes, or curated gallery walls. Its oversized scale and visual rhythm invite repeated viewing, offering a visceral experience that shifts with light and distance.

This work is sold unframed, frames / in situ images for illustration purposes only.

*) Shipping large formats rolled is safer and environmentally more friendly than shipping ready-to-hang. The canvas can be easily re-stretched by a framer at your location, which in most cases is much cheaper than the increased transport costs for a ready-to-hang painting. Nevertheless, most works can also ship ready to hang, so if you'd like a comparison quote for this, please contact me.
