Ubud Banana Palm Study
35 × 25 cm | 13.8 × 9.8 in
Acrylic on paper, 2026

Original acrylic on thick acid-free art paper
Palette knife — paint stands in real peaks above the paper
Signed on the back, Certificate of Authenticity
Unframed — ships flat, protected between rigid boards
Carefully packaged and shipped worldwide via DHL Express

I set up the easel at the edge of a Ubud rice field, with banana palms growing around me. I picked the tallest one and painted it from life in about 20 minutes — broad green leaves against the blue, browning tips on the lower fronds, before the heat blurred everything.
Acrylic on thick acid-free art paper, palette knife only. Viridian, sap green and a little ochre for the leaves, cobalt and titanium white pulling the sky behind. Quick strokes — this is plein air work, made on location, not in a studio. You can see the speed in the surface.
At 35 × 25 cm this is an intimate piece. Lives well above a bedside shelf, in a kitchen, on a small wall in a reading corner — anywhere a calm green needs to anchor a space. The frame in the mockups is for presentation only — the work ships unframed and flat. If you frame it under glass, choose a deep frame so the glass doesn't press against the paint.
A similar plein air piece can be commissioned in custom dimensions — message me directly.
Additional photos or video are available upon request.
Commissions are welcome.
