(Night and Day)

This quote from Virginia Woolf's Night and Day novel describes beautifully the feeling I wanted to capture in this painting. That time of day when nature turns both us and our surroundings into abstracts as it turns down the light. Shapes distort, colours fade only flashes of angles appear highlighted in the twilight shades of fading light and sunset tones. The voice however and feelings take on a strengthened presence as the visual stimulation diminishes and becomes muted, they become in contrast stronger.

The canvases I use are personally stretched by me using a high quality heavy weight cotton canvas, which then is primed with three coats of gesso. This ensures a more substantial and durable canvas stretcher than the off the shelf canvases. I use high quality artist materials to paint with and once a painting is complete I add a coat or two of UV varnish to protect the artwork against UV light and dust.

All paintings are packed very carefully in cardboard boxes (recycled where possible) with generous layers of bubble wrap to protect them.

Shipping costs listed are for shipping the painting ready to hang. More economical shipping charges are available if they are shipped removed from the stretcher and rolled in a tube with the stretcher bars inside.
