Artwork in which I devised an imaginary portrait of the Italian poet Folgóre da San Gimignano, pseudonym of Jacopo di Michele (San Gimignano, 1270 - 1332). He was a representative of comic-realistic poetry, a poetic movement that arose in Tuscany in the mid-13th century, which contrasted with the dominant Italian lyric poetry of that time, due to its low style and secular, worldly themes. This work of mine, done in oil, blends realism and expressionism to create a portrait charged with introspection and emotion. The warm palette and intense touches of color reflect a thoughtful, almost melancholy face framed by a historical setting that evokes the depth of the past. I tried to capture not only the outward image of the subject, but also his inner complexity and emotional reflection. Imbued with a unique atmosphere, this painting brings a touch of mystery and introspection to each setting.
