Original artwork description
"Dryad" is an unusual and poetic nature sculpture of a being with feminine curves and a funny face in the Tim Burton style.
In Greek mythology, dryads are nymphs (minor deities) linked to trees in general and oak trees in particular.
This sculpture belongs to the Ostreïdes series, which expresses the complexity of life in its search for the most appropriate form for survival, as well as the wisdom of the mind applied to the transformation of matter.
The head is topped by a hairy cap made from the natural roots of a shrub, skilfully arranged, while the body has been gouged from cleaned wood, stripped of its impurities and weaknesses, then completed with surfaced wood pulp, stained with acrylic paint and varnished. The neck is made from a dried nepenthe urn.
