Painted on location on the last day of September, this piece shows a familiar pair of trees seen from the side - ones I’ve returned to many times. Just beyond, there’s a glimpse of the Kilburn White Horse on the hillside at Sutton Bank. The colours are rich with early autumn—russet reds, golden yellows, fading greens and soft purples. I wanted to catch that feeling of the season beginning to turn, with low light filtering through the leaves and grasses, and the quiet atmosphere of the countryside starting to settle.
