Toward the Stage

Emerging from a field of white, dark figures advance together, suspended between presence and disappearance. Their forms are deliberately unfinished—stretched, scraped, and layered—suggesting movement more than identity. They are not portraits, but impulses: a collective momentum driven forward by tension, anticipation, and inner resolve.

The stark contrast of black against white heightens the drama, evoking stage lights cutting through shadow just before an entrance. Textured strokes and raw gestures give the impression of bodies in motion, as if caught mid-step, propelled by an unseen rhythm. Silence feels loud here—charged, expectant.

Toward the Stage speaks of the moment before exposure: the walk toward visibility, courage, and transformation. It is about crossing a threshold—where individuality dissolves into unity, and hesitation gives way to forward motion.

Materials used:

Acrylic, plaster, gloss varnish, matte varnish
