Part of a series of experimental lino prints.
Print size 29.7 x 21cm
Framed size 40 x 48 x 3cm
This artwork is a unique print, from a series of animal and food prints. I use the same carved surface but I apply the ink differently each time, the composition, colour and finish vary from each print, creating a different aesthetic to classical printmaking artworks, I turned a crisp cut lino print into an expressionist ink painting verging on abstraction. Most recently I have used a pottery wheel to create a circular motion in the artworks.
Lino printing is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller, and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a printing.
