Tides of Illumination is an original contemporary abstract painting inspired by the ever-changing dialogue between water, sky, and light. While creating this painting, I was inspired by the way sunlight transforms the shoreline after a long day. The sky softens into layers of blue, gray, and ivory, while the water mirrors every subtle change above it. Rather than depicting a specific location, I wanted to capture the emotional memory of a place — a landscape that exists between reality and imagination, inviting the viewer to slow down and experience a sense of openness and calm.

The artwork was developed through multiple layers of acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, scraping techniques, and expressive gestural marks. Rich textures create depth and movement across the surface, allowing light to interact with the painting and reveal new details throughout the day.

A sophisticated palette of soft blue, silver gray, ivory white, charcoal black, warm beige, and earthy ochre creates a timeless contemporary aesthetic.
