Original artwork description
This hand-built triptych consists of 3 vertical “witnesses”, with references to The Three Kings. It began as a construction from broken and re-assembled shards, in primarily black, green and white glazes. They were re-assembled in a train of consciousness manner, where the fine line between glaze and clay was highly blurred, due to multiple firings. The heavy deliberate drippings of transparent and opaque glaze lend a rich and variegated calligraphy to each of their singular forms. These “witnesses” read powerfully from every direction. Altogether they make a powerful statement showcasing a timeless theme with a modern sensibility.
