In this piece, I aimed to capture the surrealities and drama of a tempestuous sunset, as a storm approaches.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies, land and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over North Wales,
The amber tones are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
