An escape from a cold reality, ‘The wonderings of a monkey’ embodies the childish reverence of unexplored, far-off places.
The painting has an ambiguous narrative; one that can describe a variety of themes, each awoken by the viewer’s frame of mind. These, for example, could be tales of harmony, unity and of companionship, or alternatively of something more ominous. Alternatively, perhaps, it could be a tale about nothing at all: a quiet moment for a happily empty mind.
