- The Structure of Sunlight
Original artwork description
This piece is a vibrant sketch and study of trees growing in a local park, driven by a fundamental question I often ask myself: How do I convey the specific impression of lush, sunlit, and dense grass? Every brushstroke is a decision about texture: will it be delicate, like plush fur, or harsh and sharp, like fresh blades of grass?
When thinking about expressive texture and conveying meaning through the structure of a painting, the works of Anselm Kiefer are an instant reference point. While this study is smaller in scale, it shares that intention of using the medium to create a visceral experience.
What truly captivated me here was the light passing through the forest canopy. It is the way this light disperses and fragments as it gets closer to the viewer, standing deep within the woods, that is the central subject. I focused on the transition where the intensely lit, vibrant yellow-green grass gradually gives way to the deeper, richer browns of twigs and dry leaves. I aim to convey this entire sensory experience using not just color, but also the structure and expressive direction of the paintbrush, making the texture of the paint surface itself an essential part of the narrative.
The painting will be delivered in secure, multi-layered packaging, insured and tracked to ensure its safety during transport. Each work comes with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its originality.
