- THE SAINT-AGIL WOLF
Original artwork description
THE SAINT-AGIL WOLF is an unusual wolf sculpture from the CalbinoOz series.
It was made from the natural wood of a dried calabash, which was completely emptied of its seeds and skin and then refilled with clay balls and dry rice to make it heavier.
Like many of his companions in the same series, he wears a knitted jumper made from wood cellulose, worked stitch by stitch. His trousers are painted in a bright lime green.
Why Saint-Agil? Because with his legs crossed behind his back, he looks like a slightly strange teacher from days gone by patrolling a boarding school classroom, a tribute to a delightful old film from 1938 directed by Christian-Jaque.
If you look closely, you can see two small fangs protruding from the end of his long, prominent snout...
Piece signed under the paws.
Material: calabash wood, superfine wood cellulose, blown glass, acrylic paint and protective varnish.
Dimensions: H32 x W10 x D20 cm
