Original artwork description
I met the model for this painting (Jenny) at a friends dinner party. She is a well traveled photographer for a New York magazine. Throughout the evening we talked about the arts and some of the adventures she has had in her career. I was very taken by this strength she had, not just in body, but in mind and heart. I was very grateful and honored when she agreed to sit for me, and while painting her was given further opportunity to understand the wonderful person she is.
Painting for me is when I am at one with myself. It is a place I can once again revisit my childhood, dream of being. It is a place I can not hide from myself nor lie to myself, as the true inner self takes control. Painting for me is my true happy self.
