The final painting of the triptych The Quiet Hours. The turquoise field is the same as in the first two — but now there are three roses.
They settle into the colour like they have always been there. Nothing crowds, nothing competes. The branches have spread wider, the leaves gather and scatter, and the bare linen still breathes underneath. The fullness arrives quietly — the way a room can hold many people and still feel calm.
This is where the three paintings have been heading: not toward more, but toward the discovery that more can stay just as quiet. Three roses, and the same stillness as one.
