The Power of the Sea (2014)Painting by Karen Elaine Evans

I love that I live within 15 minutes of the coast (something I missed enormously when I lived in London) and find that watching the sea de-stresses me. The way that it can change from calm to stormy in a matter of minutes is amazing and also a little scary. I’ve tried to capture that feeling of power in this painting. The spray (which is made up of tiny dots of white, blue, lilac and green) is quite textured and the sides have been painted a very deep teal to match the image.
