The painting is created through a process of building up and removing layers. Zhana Viel applies multiple layers of paint and mixed-media materials to the unstretched canvas, allowing colours and textures to accumulate beneath the surface. The work is then scratched, scraped and distressed in places, revealing fragments of the colours underneath. This process creates a tactile, weathered surface in which earlier layers remain partially visible, giving the painting a sense of depth, age and history. Each mark is created by hand, making the surface impossible to fully replicate.

The work is painted on 100 × 150 cm unstretched canvas.

Shipping & Framing

The painting is shipped rolled in a protective tube. As it is supplied unstretched, it can be taken to a local professional framer or canvas specialist after arrival and professionally restretched onto a wooden frame. It can then be framed according to your preferred style and interior.

The unstretched format also makes international shipping more practical and economical than sending a large stretched canvas.
