The Passage - The Space After (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Svitlana Zezekalo

30 x 40 x 1.5cm (unframed)

£257.15

The Passage is part of The Space After, a group of four works within the wider Architecture of Memory series.
The painting focuses on a narrow urban passage framed by dark, compressed walls and fragments of old architecture. The street is recognizable, yet deliberately unstable: forms dissolve, edges remain open, and the space seems to continue beyond what can be fully seen.
Built on a dark ground with expressive layers of acrylic and oil pastel, the work combines architectural structure with spontaneous marks and fragmented surfaces. The contrast between the heavy black areas and the lighter opening in the distance creates a sense of depth, movement and uncertainty.
Rather than depicting a specific place, The Passage explores the memory of moving through an old street - a space that feels familiar, but cannot be completely recovered.

Materials used:

acrylic on canvas, oil pastel, acrylic matte protective varnish
