⠀✐ In Ancient Greece, women were forbidden, under penalty of death, not only to participate but even to attend the Olympic Games. The ancient Greek writer Pausanias mentions a huge cliff near Olympia, from which those who dared to violate this ban were allegedly thrown. However, no casualties have ever been recorded.
⠀✐ It was not until 1900 that women first competed in the Olympic Games.
⠀✐ Standards, equipment, and uniforms have changed over time…
But humanity's interest in sport and athletic achievement remains constant. Sport is an eternal struggle for the right to compete, for the opportunity to prove one's superiority, to declare to oneself and the world: "I exist and I am the best!"
