The Lace Collar (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Marina Skvortsova

41.8 x 58.7 x 0.01cm (unframed)

£303.81

This work was created in the atmosphere of late spring, when the first warmth, flowering branches, and longer northern days create a quiet sense of celebration. The red flowers and delicate linear forms unfold against a muted blue-grey background, balancing fragility and ornament.

Inspired by antique textiles, faded herbariums, and fragments of vintage decoration, the composition combines botanical imagery with a feeling of memory and festivity. I was interested in capturing the emotional lightness of May — that brief moment when nature feels both tender and theatrical.

The painted border is an integral part of the composition, inspired by the spatial feeling of textile panels and East Asian hanging scrolls. Rather than functioning as a conventional frame, it creates atmosphere and breathing space around the image.

Materials used:

Acrylic, watercolour pencils
